PARTNERING WITH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTES
For many years, Alliance representatives have given lectures at domestic and international academic institutions, facilitated field visits for student groups and hosted student interns and researchers. While this helps us disseminate and educate a wider range of people and introduce a new generation of development professionals to the Alliance, it also helps us in generating new ideas, getting professional feedback and support and builds partnerships that produce collaborative work that neither institution could achieve alone.
Since 2006, we have begun to develop closer, longer-term relationships with universities and professional groups from Ind Dharavi: Documenting Informalities, an interdisciplinary book that was published in Sweden in 2008 and will be launched at an event in Mumbai in November 2009. The university also profiled Dharavi at Informal Cities, an exhibition and symposium held in Stockholm in September 2008; leaders in the Alliance spoke at the event.
